Peace That Transcends All Understanding

Have you ever had a day, week or year that has felt overwhelming? We all have, and yet, if you are a follower of Jesus, sometimes you are able to persevere with a strange peace that is unexplainable. Thankfully, God preserved a verse for us that is so refreshing and reminds us of this very peace. In Philippians 4:6-7, the apostle Paul shares with us the following:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

That is why our peace can sometimes feel unexplainable – because it is a peace that transcends all understanding. No amount of science or precision can quantify this in our souls. Yet God still gives us a clear path to this peace, which is to present each and every one of our requests to him. Through our laying down of anxiety and trust in God, we can experience hearts and minds that are guarded by him.

Today, I don't have a major application other than to rest in the peace of Christ Jesus. I needed to read that verse this week, and maybe you do too. Nothing is too overwhelming for God. You can present your fears, anxieties, and suffering to him, and he will be there for you. God will give you a peace that transcends all understanding if you are willing to surrender everything to him.
