Keeping track of metrics in our lives makes us intentional. It helps us make better and more informed decisions. Whether it’s incredibly simple or requires lots of discipline, there is value in using what we learn about our present life to change our future.

This year, consider tracking something in your life for a year. It can be anything, but here are a few ideas to spark some thoughts:

·       What books you read

·       How many hours of sleep you get each night

·       Screen time on your smartphone each week

·       Number of steps you take each day

·       How many times you went to the gym (or exercise of choice)

·       Your favorite memory of every day

As you become zoned in on something small that matters to you, you will find yourself observing that behavior differently. It helps make us aware of what we need to adjust or expands our perspective in a positive way. As long as what you track is something of value to you, it will be valuable to look at the data.

Today is the first day of the year, right? Well, start today!
