What to Learn From Inconvenient Life Lessons

When we walked into what was supposed to be our apartment for our entire time in Texas, we were shocked. It was unclean, littered with bugs, and an ugly leak in the bathroom was staining the floor. What we thought would be a relaxing move into our new home turned into something very different. We ended up checking into a hotel for the night and proceeded to do so for the next few nights as well. Unable to live in the apartment, we found ourselves in a completely new city with a packed car and no place to call home. It was a chaotic week after such a fun road trip to get there. But in the midst of it all, we were peacefully stressed. We found ways to laugh at the craziness of the situation and lean on God in prayer. And through it all, we searched for the silver linings. In this case, it reminded me of a time when I dealt with a similar situation. Just a few years ago I had a terrible experience with mold in an apartment in northern Kentucky. I eventually had to break the lease with a doctor's note and proven mold through a test from Home Depot, and long story short, I ended up alright. Sometimes bad experiences lead you to great realizations. Because of that experience, I knew very quickly how to detect mold and to not risk my health just because it was a convenient housing option. Often the crappiest days can be the best learning moments, and while we're still not settled, we’re thankful to be here. I hope you've been having a better week than us, but if you're not, I pray that you will find something special in what you're going through. Maybe God will find a way to use something you're experiencing now, whether good or bad, for your future.
